Bi Dictionary

1.  Sexual Orientation – The direction of sexual interest in relation to a person’s 
        own gender identity, which includes components of sexual attraction,     
        emotional attraction, sexual behavior, and self-identification.  These different 
        components may or may not match up.

2.  Bisexual – Having romantic and/or sexual attraction to both sexes. The attraction may be stronger for one sex than the other, may be equal for both sexes, or may be directed at qualities outside of gender lines.  

3.  Pansexual – A broader term than bisexual because it includes attraction to transgendered and gender fluid people who do not fit into categories of male or female.  

4.  Anthrosexual - This term means "sexuality involving humans" and includes all genders but does not refer to sexual orientation or practice.  

5.  Ambi – A term for attraction to people of both genders which stays away from the term “sexual” and which is inclusive of monogamous and poly relationship styles.

6.  Fluid – A term for attraction to people outside of gender lines that stays away from the term “sexual.”  This term also challenges the binary construct of male and female.

7.  Queer – A term that means attraction to the same sex without identifying as gay or bisexual, or attraction to people of all genders and sexual orientations.  Sometimes used in a political context to signify the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersexed (LGBTI) community. 

8.  Omnisexual - This term means "including any kind of sexuality" and basically includes all genders, sexual orientations and sexual practices.  

9.  Flexual – Open to same sex activity without identifying as gay or bisexual.

10.  Bicurious – Having curiosity about sexual relations with a member of the same gender but not having acted on the curiosity.

11. Monogamy – Agreed upon sexual and emotional exclusivity between two people, whether or not they are legally married.

12.  Nonmonogamy – Any situation involving consensual or nonconsensual nonexclusivity including polyamory, polyfidelity, and infidelity.

13. Polyamory – The practice of openly maintaining multiple sexual and/or romantic relationships with men and/or women at the same time.  Exists among gay, straight, and bi people.  May consist of a primary couple with secondary relationships outside of the couple.  One or both partners of the primary couple may be polyamorous.

14. Polyfidelity - An agreement within a group of three or more not to share sex with anyone outside the group.  Also called “group marriage” or “triads.”

15. Fidelity - Keeping one's promises with one's partner(s) about sexual behavior and/or emotional intimacy. In a monogamous relationship, this means refraining from being intimate with anyone else; in a poly relationship, this means observing one's ground rules.

16.  Infidelity – An act which violates the agreed upon rules of sexual and/or emotional exclusivity within a monogamous or poly relationship.
